We show you the part
Whatever comes off your car is yours. We keep it and we walk you out to look at it. A worn ball joint is obvious the moment somebody puts it in your hand, and you should not have to take our word for it.
Gopher Auto Repair is a family owned shop on Highway 65 in Fridley. Two bays, red doors, and a short chain of command. The person who finds the problem is the person who fixes it and the person who explains it to you.
Why we work this way
Most people's experience of a repair shop is being handed a number they have no way to evaluate and being asked to trust it. That is a bad position to put someone in. It is also the reason the whole trade has the reputation it has.
We are new, so we do not have twenty years of regulars to point at. What we can do is take the guessing out of it. Three things, on every job.
Whatever comes off your car is yours. We keep it and we walk you out to look at it. A worn ball joint is obvious the moment somebody puts it in your hand, and you should not have to take our word for it.
Every inspection produces a list, and most of that list is not urgent. We tell you what will leave you on the shoulder of 65 this month, what to plan for by winter, and what we would leave alone on a car with your miles.
Parts and labor, itemized, before the work starts. You approve it. If the car comes apart and there is something worse underneath, the work stops and we call you. Nothing gets added to an invoice you already agreed to.
The building
Two bays and red doors on a dark building, right on Highway 65 in Fridley. Most of our customers pass it on the commute before they ever come in.
You are welcome to come look at your car on the lift. Plenty of shops treat the bay as somewhere customers do not go. We would rather you see it.

The phone rings in the shop, not a call center. If we are under a car it may take a minute.
